Uncle Joe is cutting boards for bookshelves. If he begins with 9 feet of wood, how many shelves will he cut if each one is 1 1/2 foot long

To get the answer, you divide the length of the board by the size of the pieces wanted, so the equation you get is

9/1.5 = 6

So you can get six 1.5in shelves from a 9ft board
